Here's a little interview with Miss Bondi 2011 winner Sophie Don, she's sassy, sexy and savvy and she rides a BBC Trex lowrider can she be anymore badass? enjoy RP.
RP: Hell yeah, you’ve just taken out the title for Miss Bondi 2011,
congrats! How are you feeling about it all and what’s the aftermath1. been
like?
SD: Thank you! I still can’t believe it to be honest. I
actually entered on a dare from a mate from work and most people were
pretty shocked when they found out. To find myself up on that stage and taking the title is pretty crazy to me! Afterwards on Sunday I had lots of random
high fives and people wanting photos, it was so weird. I kept thinking
“Who, me?!”
RP: Well you know you’re the envy of every
girl and the fantasy of every young impressionable boy right now, what
are you gonna do with all that power??
SD: Run for president? Do you think I get a sash for that?
RP: Vote 1 Miss Bondi! Ok it’s time to get serious.. how many free
beers did you get at the after party and do you remember what happened
that night?
SD: Dude I get free beer anyway, but I definitely
think it’s safe to say I lost count that night! There wasn’t so much an
after party but I was wandering around afterwards still kind of in a daze
and lots of people coming up and congratulating me. Then we had
staffies afterwards and one of the managers made a really beautiful
toast to me which was so sweet of him!
RP: I saw that your Mum was there to cheer you on, that must have been awesome! What does she have to say about your win?
SD: Man my Mum is the best person in the entire world. She’s
always been so encouraging and we have a really similar sense of humor
so she was actually the one who helped me come up with some of my
answers (that I’m sure have made the rounds on the quoting circuit). She’s just the best. She has however suggested that we keep the
news of my win from my Grandma.
RP: So when you’re not up on a catwalk kicking ass in competitions, what are some of your favorite things to do in Bondi?
SD: Kicking ass on the ground! I work 4 days a week (babysitting
alcoholics and tourists) but when I’m not there I like to run along the promenade and then head to
the Organic Bakery and buy a few Almond sticks, they’re my favourite!
I’m also a really big fan of the Crossing, my trainer works up there so
it’s good to head in to visit him. Whatever I do, I make sure to stay
away from White Revolting.
RP: Don't we all. You purchased a Trex Lowrider from us a while back and
we heard everyone has been frothing over it (and you) when you ride it
down to work, do you think that the bike contributed to your win?
SD: I loved it from the minute I got on it and rode it (…ok that sounded
bad). Every time I’ve ridden it down to work I’ve had people asking me
where I got it from and some of the older Bondi locals telling me how it
looks exactly like the bike they had when they were younger. I love the colour, red
is my favourite and I’m a bit of a tomboy at heart so I reckon it makes
me a little badass. It definitely would’ve contributed to my win,
riding it around the place is such good exercise and especially for your
legs so they looked tip top for when I had to strut in front of that
pub full of people in a bikini and heels!
RP: This is a
question from all the guys in Bondi, are you spoken for at the moment?
And if not, what kind of gentleman would catch your eye and how would he
go about winning you over?
SD: At
the moment I’m a free agent, I’ve never really managed to hold onto a
guy but I promise I’m not crazy! I think it’s probably because often I
end up just becoming one of the boys. But if I was going to say what
kind of guy, I don’t really have a physical type. Preferably someone
with a brain and a bit of a dark sense of humour so I don’t offend them
every time I open my mouth and definitely no moustache, Movember is
over people!! If he wanted to win me over? Definitely be original.
I’m not a fan of bullshit and small talk, also –
no man cleavage. Put. That. Shit. Away.
RP: Well there you have it boys, keep those man nipples hidden if you want a shot with Miss Bondi! What’s the plan now? Miss Universe?
SD: I think it’s safe to say I’ll be hanging up my heels and my sash and
going on being a normal Bondi girl. I’m glad I did it but I think it’s
definitely safe to say that beyond the familiarity of 2026, the pageant
business isn’t really my thing!
