Boobathon - Breast Cancer Fundraiser

What would you do if your sister was terminally ill? Samuel Johnson’s sister Connie is dying of breast cancer so he set out on an epic challenge to ride around Australia on a unicycle!

To help Samuel raise a million dollars for breast cancer research, we'll be supporting the first ever Boobathon event on Saturday 12 April.

We've donated one of our Ladies Beach Cruisers and wicker baskets to be raffled on the day along with some other amazing prizes. The event is being held from noon - 5pm in and around the Erskinville Hotel with lots of entertainment for the kiddies including a petting zoo and face painting, Superhero Wrestlers, dog and owner beauty contests, quirky stalls and plenty more.
Samuel will be there as MC, and as the sun begins to go down (around 6pm) the event will move inside the beautiful Art Deco pub and begin the biggest charity auction Erskineville has ever seen!

Everyday Fantasia - This Thursday!!

At 107 Projects on Thu Nov 1, Sydney’s artistic underground will be presented as a visual fantasia by emerging curator Hollie Black and emerging charity collective the YCF. For one-night-only, the city's tagging turncoats will be playing by some of the art game’s rules.

In Everyday Fantasia, a group exhibition that features works by street artists and illustrators Aldous Massie, Alex Lehours, Andisk, Beastman, Bridge Stehli, Dale Bigeni, Daysone, Dboe, Deb, Edgarr, Faz, Gerald Leung, J'aime Fazackerley, Jo
dee Knowles, Jumbo, Kalis, KON, Nmbr19, Phil James, Pigeonboy, RJ Williams, Ronstoppable, Rotes, VarsOne, Skel, Simon Lovelace, Will Lynes and many more. The artists have taken the energy that they inject into Sydney’s streets, signage and residents’ skin, and propelled it through the doors of a new creative space.

Black wants this exhibition to be a chance for all art outsiders to get in the game – on both sides of the canvas – so the exhibition is an opportunity for the Young Centenary Foundation’s supporter network of young professionals to buy their first artwork. And we hear John Kaldor’s $35 million art collection started with a $50 painting, so it could be the start of something big.

The works will available for auction for one night only and will start at the $50 mark and climbing up from there.

On the night you’ll also find an Everyday Fantasia pop-up shop pedaling the freshest Merchandise and limited edition zines, prints and tees by Daysone, KON, Notorious & Co, Alex Lehours, Big Village Records, Phil James, Beach Burrito Company, 567 King and heaps more, with a percentage of all sales going toward the Centenary Institute.

The commission from all works sold will go directly towards funding the life-saving research of the Centenary Institute, and Ash & Andy of Death Strobe Records will keep the party moving as the pieces sell.

Our friends at Beach Burrito Company will help keep your taste buds happy on the night and there will also be an open pop-up bar thanks to event sponsors VODKA O, Cascade and Bulmers PLUS a raffle boasting prizes including a double pass to Harvest Festival, a Bondi Beach Cruisers bike, Big Village clothing and a $250 voucher to Bondi Love.

Bondi Lifeguard Watercraft Challenge

Sorry guys I've been slack with the updates but we've been getting everything ready for the return of our Ladies Iceberg cruiser, but that will be another post coming soon.

I know this is a little late, but a couple of weeks ago I got a chance to see the boys from Bondi lifeguard taking on a watercraft challenge for Bondi rescue. The boys split up to four teams and had a small budget to create a makeshift floating watercraft that can take them from the boat ramp to the beach, sound easy enough right?? Well ad 4-5ft rough seas and a howling Southerly and it was mayhem, not only that, one team decided to build a coffin to make matters worse.

We had lifeguard Maxi as Gilligan  and Captain in a fluorescent tiger print boat, we had team "commando" with their two paddle ski craft connected with broken surfboards and timber duct taped and the "painters" with their single kayak with plumbing pipe stabilisers, they pretty much sunk their craft as soon as their inaugural boat ramp launch, much to the amusement of lifeguard "Harries" who was in stitches as they were pummelled into the rocks. Not sure who won, not sure if it was even a race but all was in good fun, hopefully it will be on the telly soon. Meanwhile check out some stills here.

Promotional bikes and advertising.

Our recent collaboration with Bacardi Lion was the Breezercycle summer promotion for their on and off premise Australia wide campaign. It saw the custom creation of 330 bikes in 6 fantastic custom colours for each of their new Bacardi Breezer summer flavours. It was such a great success that they extended it to their Facebook page.

We believe bikes can add the fun and that x factor for companies that want to stand out, besides promoting a healthy vibe bikes can be the centre of attention in the fashionable front, and with Mercedes Benz fashion week approaching it could be a great chance to get noticed. MISS BONDI 2011 :: The interview

Here's a little interview with Miss Bondi 2011 winner Sophie Don, she's sassy, sexy and savvy and she rides a BBC Trex lowrider can she be anymore badass? enjoy RP.

RP: Hell yeah, you’ve just taken out the title for Miss Bondi 2011, congrats! How are you feeling about it all and what’s the aftermath1. been like?

SD: Thank you! I still can’t believe it to be honest. I actually entered on a dare from a mate from work and most people were pretty shocked when they found out. To find myself up on that stage and taking the title is pretty crazy to me! Afterwards on Sunday I had lots of random high fives and people wanting photos, it was so weird. I kept thinking “Who, me?!”

RP: Well you know you’re the envy of every girl and the fantasy of every young impressionable boy right now, what are you gonna do with all that power??

SD: Run for president? Do you think I get a sash for that?

RP: Vote 1 Miss Bondi! Ok it’s time to get serious.. how many free beers did you get at the after party and do you remember what happened that night?

SD: Dude I get free beer anyway, but I definitely think it’s safe to say I lost count that night! There wasn’t so much an after party but I was wandering around afterwards still kind of in a daze and lots of people coming up and congratulating me. Then we had staffies afterwards and one of the managers made a really beautiful toast to me which was so sweet of him!

RP: I saw that your Mum was there to cheer you on, that must have been awesome! What does she have to say about your win?

SD: Man my Mum is the best person in the entire world. She’s always been so encouraging and we have a really similar sense of humor so she was actually the one who helped me come up with some of my answers (that I’m sure have made the rounds on the quoting circuit). She’s just the best. She has however suggested that we keep the news of my win from my Grandma.

RP: So when you’re not up on a catwalk kicking ass in competitions, what are some of your favorite things to do in Bondi?

SD: Kicking ass on the ground! I work 4 days a week (babysitting alcoholics and tourists) but when I’m not there I like to run along the promenade and then head to the Organic Bakery and buy a few Almond sticks, they’re my favourite! I’m also a really big fan of the Crossing, my trainer works up there so it’s good to head in to visit him. Whatever I do, I make sure to stay away from White Revolting.

RP: Don't we all. You purchased a Trex Lowrider from us a while back and we heard everyone has been frothing over it (and you) when you ride it down to work, do you think that the bike contributed to your win?

SD: I loved it from the minute I got on it and rode it (…ok that sounded bad). Every time I’ve ridden it down to work I’ve had people asking me where I got it from and some of the older Bondi locals telling me how it looks exactly like the bike they had when they were younger. I love the colour, red is my favourite and I’m a bit of a tomboy at heart so I reckon it makes me a little badass. It definitely would’ve contributed to my win, riding it around the place is such good exercise and especially for your legs so they looked tip top for when I had to strut in front of that pub full of people in a bikini and heels!

RP: This is a question from all the guys in Bondi, are you spoken for at the moment? And if not, what kind of gentleman would catch your eye and how would he go about winning you over?

SD: At the moment I’m a free agent, I’ve never really managed to hold onto a guy but I promise I’m not crazy! I think it’s probably because often I end up just becoming one of the boys. But if I was going to say what kind of guy, I don’t really have a physical type. Preferably someone with a brain and a bit of a dark sense of humour so I don’t offend them every time I open my mouth and definitely no moustache, Movember is over people!! If he wanted to win me over? Definitely be original. I’m not a fan of bullshit and small talk, also – no man cleavage. Put. That. Shit. Away.

RP: Well there you have it boys, keep those man nipples hidden if you want a shot with Miss Bondi! What’s the plan now? Miss Universe?

SD: I think it’s safe to say I’ll be hanging up my heels and my sash and going on being a normal Bondi girl. I’m glad I did it but I think it’s definitely safe to say that beyond the familiarity of 2026, the pageant business isn’t really my thing!
